I work in one of those offices where they think that team bonding days are a good idea. Personally I’d prefer they gave us all the money to go for a drink together, but then I’m not in charge. Very few people look forward to these days out and on the whole I find them a bit of a waste of time. There have been a few notable exceptions, the day spent racing cars for one, and the time we spent shooing paintballs at each other in the forest for another. The latest announcement for a team bonding day was met with the usual enthusiasm – a djembe drumming workshop. I have to admit that I was genuinely surprised and we all ended up having a fantastic day. We laughed a lot, we enjoyed ourselves and we made a lot of noise. Three of us have now bought Jammer Djembes and even joined the local drumming group.
