A blank canvas!

Posted by admin on February 21, 2010

I recently went to my friends house to see his latest addition to his living room. A 50 gallon aquarium. I was quite disappointed though. He had bought the tank and never bothered buying aquarium supplies. The tank was a blank canvas! How could you buy a new tank, throw some fish in it, and never bother to set it up properly? This tank will probably need to be taken completely down and fish removed before he could even bother trying to decorate it with gravel, rocks, plants etc. If you buy a new tank, take the time to set it up properly before you go and throw fish in it.

Choosing the right type of aquarium

Have you the got happy fish?
Many times people buy a newRectangular fish tank then purchase new fish without any thought to the demeanor of the fish they bought. My first tank was a disaster! I bought some of these African Cichlids because they were very colorful. I then bought some Angelfish. Well without knowing it, I was basically feeding my African Cichlids fresh Angelfish! Make sure before you buy fish you check the demeanor of the fish you are buying. Another thing to consider is the growth of the species you are buying.
You could end up feeding your guppies to a large mouth Bass!

Glass Fish Tank vs. Plastic Fish Tank

Posted by admin on February 3, 2010

Through the course of improvements in the design, construction and manufacture of fish tanks, seems like plastic varieties has become more preferred by most fish owners. In the past, glass tanks were preferred for its transparency and durability. However, the maintenance concerns involving its silicone sealant and its potential to shatter when subjected to sharp turns of temperature make glass tanks a risky pick. Also, plastic tanks such as the acrylic fish tanks are made more durable and lightweight because of its reinforced and light material and welded seam. However, glass tanks remains competitive with its classic appeal to design.
