i have tried lime wire on my old pc but it had so many viruses until my old computer won’t even function! i have a new laptop and am trying to get songs to itunes, which is virtually empty.
but see the thing is i don’t have $.99 to give to itunes every time i want to download a song but i don’t want my new laptop to get crashed because of downloading junk off the internet. thanks for all your answers so far.

If you’re not paying, you’re downloading from strangers (individual users – web sites that would allow you to do that would be illegal, and would be closed in minutes) and downloading from strangers is dangerous. (You get links to them on websites, but the actual download is from strangers.)

see lime wire is not a correct solution to prevent virus.
install a good antivirus like norton, avast4.8 (if you want free but good antivirus) and download anything you want without any problem.
I am using avast from last 2 years and not getting affected by any virus though I used to download many things from internet.
